Bio

Pollen Studioa Yorkshire production company.

Pollen Studio has been proud to create multimedia for over 40 years. Initially opened as a sound recording studio with soundproofed rooms for mastering and recording, we have taken on ambitious projects and delivered memorable AV experiences around the UK, Europe and the World. In the mid 1990s we started to create moving image and after winning more work and trying to expand our offerings we are proud to own Red Epic Dragon cameras, multiple Mac Pro editing suites with high speed RAIDs, a Blackmagic colouring suite and even offer LTO6 tape backup solutions. Recently we have been involved with a massive project to document the experiences of survivors of the Holocaust in a revolutionary way. Using 3D filming, advanced unique post production techniques and high production standards we have assisted the Holocaust Centre and Bright White Ltd in creating a 4K 3D interactive video experience. The first of its kind around the world. Read more below...

Forever Project

The Forever Project

Contracted by Bright White to work with the National Holocaust Centre we have assisted with filming and post production for an ambitious project to ensure the most important memories from our present are preserved for our future. Survivors of the holocaust have been filmed in 4K 3D, and with stunning post production and a groundbreaking piece of programming, turned into an interactive projection. Visitors can talk and ask questions to a 3D projection, meaning memories, thoughts and recollections will be stored forever in an accessible and interactive way, unlike anything before. Filming has taken place in our studio and around the UK, with all post production taking place on our premises. Our work is still ongoing, but initially started in 2013, and has involved over 200hrs of 3D filming in 4K, 150TB+, 35,000 unique files and the safe storage of all data. Post production has been a long process with groundbreaking workflows developed in FCPX.

3D 360 for Kyla La Grange

Earlier this year we were asked by Visualise to assist them with a music video for Kyla La Grange. The concept was very ambitious - the first of its kind in the UK, and involved 3D and mono deliveries. The music video was directed by De La Muerte films, and involved backing dancers, high frame rate filming, modified speeds for filming, a huge set and even trained horses. The shoot was a pleasure and one that we provided filming, DIT, initial grade and editing for. The mono version of the film is embedded below, but will only work on specific browsers (chrome, firefox, opera or internet explorer) and supported smartphones via the youtube application. In late July/August, the stereoscopic version should be launched via a custom application developed by Inception. We shot the music video on dual Red Epic Dragons, with DIT work performed with Shotput Pro. On set grading was performed between RedCine X and DaVinci Resolve, with assembly edits and still frames for reference exported via FCPX.
